History of elevators
Lift is a kind of lifting machines mechanism, the main purpose of which is vertical or oblique movement of people and goods, different in size and weight, a special platform on hard rails. According to the notes of the Roman architect Vitruvius, probably for the first time lifting devices have been designed by Archimedes. Later references dated the middle of VI. in Egypt, then - in the seventeenth century seen the emergence of lifts in the UK and the first half of the eighteenth century - in France. Russian Empire began to use passenger elevators in the middle of the eighteenth century. The inventor Kulibin has developed a model screw passenger elevator in a chair lift. Established in 1857 the lift-lift allowed thinking about the construction of "skyscrapers". Technology manufacturing elevators quickly stepped forward and presented to the hydraulic and electric lifts, the speed of which was much higher than previous versions of elevators.
